UNHIREABLE is a satirical browser game. The free game is designed to work without an account, name, email address, or résumé. This policy explains what is stored and why.
What we collect
- An anonymous player ID. It is a random identifier stored in a signed, HttpOnly session cookie for up to 12 months. It lets us associate an application, daily attempt, campaign progress, its puzzle answers, and its report with your browser. It is not your name or email.
- Game state. Applications started, campaign and daily progress, seed-generated interview sequences, answers, evaluations, hidden game statistics, ending data, and achievements.
- Aggregate funnel counters. We record daily counts for events such as a campaign start, round completed, expansion view, checkout start, and purchase. These counters contain no player ID, IP address, email, or individual event history.
- Technical logs. Our hosting and database providers may process request logs, IP addresses, and error data for security, rate limiting, and reliability. Distributed rate-limit buckets store only a keyed hash of an identifier and expire within the rate-limit window.
- Purchase records. If you buy Corporate Nightmare, Lemon Squeezy processes your payment and email. We store an order reference, product/variant identifiers, amount, currency, test/live environment, entitlement status, and limited restoration metadata. We do not store full card details. We do not store your raw license key, only a SHA-256 hash used to match a restoration request.
Cookies
We use one essential signed session cookie to keep you in the same anonymous game session. It expires after 12 months or when you clear it. There are no advertising cookies, third-party tracking pixels, or analytics scripts in this build. Funnel measurement is aggregated server-side without a visitor identifier. Lemon Squeezy’s hosted checkout operates on its own domain and is governed by its own privacy policy.
Service providers
- Vercel hosts the application and processes serverless request logs.
- Turso provides the production database.
- Lemon Squeezy acts as merchant of record for the Corporate Nightmare expansion and handles payment, tax, receipts, and license-key delivery.
Retention and choices
Game sessions are retained while needed to keep applications and reports working. Purchase and entitlement records are retained as required for accounting, fraud prevention, refunds, and legal compliance. Because the game is anonymous, we may not be able to identify a specific person’s records without the session cookie or purchase reference. You can clear your cookie to abandon a session, but that does not delete server records or restore access. A paid expansion can be restored with the license key from your Lemon Squeezy receipt, including after cookie expiration or on a replacement device.

Children and changes
The game is not directed at children under 13. If you are under the age required to consent to digital services where you live, use the game with a parent or guardian. We may update this policy as the product changes and will revise the date above.
